The Figure in Colour
Aberfeldy
30th June - 4th July
10am – 4pm
£460
This workshop explores the relationship between the human figure and colour as a compositional and expressive tool. Working from a clothed model, we’ll look at ways the figure can be integrated into a broader colour environment—moving beyond isolated studies to create paintings where the figure is part of a unified image.
We’ll explore how colour, tone, and surface can su ggest mood, narrative, or atmosphere, and how the figure can both anchor and dissolve into these elements. Through a combination of guided exercises, short studies, and more developed pieces, we’ll investigate how colour choices can shape the emotional and spatial qualities of a painting
Open to all levels. Materials provided.

The Poetic Landscape
Aberfeldy
July 14th – July 18th
10am – 4pm
£420
This course is split between 3 days working in the landscape at the Poetry Path in Corbenic, making sketches and studies on site. Then there will be 2 days back in the studio, where we will develop these into finished pieces—exploring not just what we see, but how we can respond to it through composition, tone, and mark-making.
We'll consider how elements like space, light, and atmosphere can be used expressively, and how metaphor might emerge through the process of looking and painting. The goal is to move beyond representation and find a poetic idea within the motif.
Open to all levels. Materials provided.
